In July 2014 I received a request from the future Mouse Museum<\/a> to create a miniature painting of 7×7 cm of a mouse for the collection of this museum. Because I’m on vacation I had done nothing with this request, and it remained lying in oblivion. The end of 2014 the request was made again and I enthusiastically went to work. Here is the result: Wiebje and Miesje Mouse, oil on masonite, size 7×7 cm. Made in Holland, because I was in the Netherlands and worked there. Gerard Hoogenhuyzen<\/a>, the initiator and driving force behind this museum, wanted both paintings in the collection.<\/p>\nEnthusiasm for more small paintings<\/h4>\n
The choice for both Wiebje and Miesje in the museum made me very excited, I got a taste. Why not make more of these small works<\/a>? Even more mice, then Siamese cats, birds, faces the subjects are endless. In 2015 I have been very busy with painting this tiny miniatures, size 7×7 cm.<\/p>\n![\"Made](\"http:\/\/rinekedejong.nl\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/wp-chocpoint2-doc-150x150.jpg\")

After the mice, I came naturally to cats. I used to have Siamese cats. I was very fond of them, therefore a tribute to Gijsje and Sterretje. They have become both 19 years old and are now immortalized in oil on masonite. I’m still in love with them. But there are a few other portraits of siamese cats at and maybe there will be also a portrait of aPanda, the mother of Gijsje.
\nI have wooden boxes with miniatures, not only do they serve as gift packaging, but also immediately they serve as a frame. You can self-paint them in any color to match your interior, or just leave it blank. I put a slice in parenthesis and a piece of double-sided adhesive tape to stick the painting it in the box. Thus, the miniature is ready to hang.<\/p>\n
Pendants, brooches and earrings<\/h4>\n
Because I saw my masonite myself, I had little pieces of masonite left over and so I had the idea to do something with it. Throwing it away is always possible, but do something with it, was my thought. Even smaller miniatures? 3×4 cm?<\/p>\n

While painting you get ideas. Why not make jewelry of those tiny remaining pieces of masonite? Thus arose the pendants, brooches and earrings. Jewelery to decorate yourself with. Works of art, which you can take off again. If you change your mood or occasion. This in contrast to tattoos, which are surely permanent. Also I am honoured to be able to present this jewelry, Made in Holland, in a French boutique.
