The horse<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In the visual arts, the horse plays an important role.<\/p>\n

\nThe horse in earlier days<\/strong><\/h3>\n

From the earliest times, it was used by humans for all kinds of purposes. We know the most beautiful reliefs of Assyrians, Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, etc. In the Renaissance, beautiful horse studies were made by Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, but also by Albrecht D\u00fcrer, and many others.<\/p>\n

The horse was a warhorse, a status symbol for kings and knights, used to compete and play, was a means of transport and was used for hunting. For the farmers, it was an indispensable aid to cultivate the country and also to transport goods and people.<\/p>\n

The horse now<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Even now, in our motorized and computerized time, the horse is unthinkable, even though its employability has changed. The land is almost no longer processed by horses, it has been taken over by tractors and other agricultural tools. The transport is now by train, truck, boat and airplane. However, horse races are still being held, with racing horses and dragers. We also have jumping, steeplechases and other equestrian events. A lot of different horse breeds are bred for all kinds of purposes. And the horse also remains a status symbol.
\nWild horses also occur, such as the Konik horse<\/a> and the Prezwalski horse.<\/a> They are usually deployed in protected areas. The Konik horses can be found in the Oostvaardersplassen in the Netherlands. Przewalski horses will not be found in the wild anymore. Wild free-roaming horses originate from domesticated ancestors. Examples are the Mustangs<\/a> in North America
\nHorses remain a popular subject for photographers, painters, artists and sculptors. I have also made some studies myself and made paintings from horses<\/a> . You can see one of them below:<\/p>\n

Finally<\/strong><\/h3>\n

There is almost no gentler animal than the horse. They are an inexhaustible source of inspiration for visual artists and they have a beneficial effect on people with disabilities, but also on people in general. They deserve our love and appreciation because they are not too concerned to meet our most bizarre requirements. Unfortunately, too, we go sometimes too far in our demands.<\/p>\n
